College Football Games, Oct 17

Here are the 5 picks for this week. Because of the Thursday night game, I am cutting this off at 7 pm (ET) on Thursday.

1) Cincinnati at South Florida
2) Oklahoma v. Texas
3) USC at Notre Dame
4) Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech
5) South Carolina at Alabama

The tie-breaker, should it come to that: Georgia at Vanderbilt (pick winner and score)

I have a suggestion for the great wigged one.... Would it be possible to include who is the home team in each of the weekly match-ups?

Certainly. But the way I have the games listed should be with the visitor listed first and the home team second. I'll double-check and fix the OP.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I believe I had two Little-11 games last week. Besides, I did include Notre Dame (about the only time of the year that will happen, and ND might as well be a Little-11/12 team), and all the regular Little-11 games this week stink (with the possible exception of Minnesota at Penn St.; if they had been playing in Minn, I might have included it, but no way the Gophers win at Penn). And I think the Alabama/SC game will be better than most folks expect.

Oklahoma vs. Texas: We always pray it will be cold enough to prepare our traditional Frito chili pie for watching that game. Looks like we're set for this year. It's been near freezing here!

Here in the Dallas area it's going to be 65 degrees and sunny for the game. Pretty near perfect football weather.

1) Cincinnati at South Florida => South Florida (so Miami can beat another ranked team later in the year)
2) Oklahoma v. Texas => Texas (Oklahoma is toast)
3) USC at Notre Dame => USC (hate the "domers")
4) Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech => Va Tech (but I'm rooting for Ga Tech [go 'Canes])
5) South Carolina at Alabama => 'Bama (Just because)

The tie-breaker, should it come to that: Georgia at Vanderbilt (pick winner and score) => Georgia 24-10

Oklahoma has lost the last 4 out of 5 to Texas. They should fire someone.

My boys lost, but for the first time this year the Hog defense showed up and gave Florida a run for the money. I'm proud of their game today.

It is God that multiplies our sorrows....
God, as a righteous Judge, does it, which ought to silence us under all our sorrows; as many as they are, we have deserved them all, and more: nay, God, as a tender Father, does it for our necessary correction, that we may be humbled for sin, and weaned from the world by all our sorrows; and the good we get by them, with the comfort we have under them, will abundantly balance our sorrows, how greatly soever they are multiplied. - Matthew Henry

The Hogs did put on a good show today. While the loss has to hurt, they should be proud of their effort.

I was hoping that they could pull it out.

You don't know how bad I was hoping they beat Florida.

Florida has come to earth the past few weeks and looks very beatable now. I will be surprised if they emerge unscathed this season. Certainly Alabama looks like a better team at this point, should they meet in the SEC Championship game.

Barring any second half disaster on the part of Alabama, it looks like Cold Silver Moon will win this week, being the only person to go 5-0. Here's an early congratulations and an early powdered wig to you, Mason:

Congrats.

Actually, I wanted to give a shout out to the Missus, as she picked 4 out of 5 correct this week, and wasn't too far off on the tie-breaker either. Congrats, sweetie!

I retreat to the depths of my house and weep at a loss that should not have been. VT didn't look prepared for the triple option; executed very admirably by GT. If only the 4th quarter had been repeated in the other three quarters, the outcome would have been different. Congrats Jackets.

Oklahoma might just win a big game if their starting qb could stay healthy.
