When I started to follow baseball as a child there were sixteen teams in the major leauges...eight in the National, eight in the American.
The winner of each league played in the World Series.
The good old days.

For all you naysayers out there, the Dodgers are STILL in first place in the National League West.
Better take your humility pills, guys (heh, heh)...

Texas beat Baltimore today by the score of 30 to 3. The first baseball team to score 30+ since 1897. Ouch!

Isn't it interesting how the Cards have crept back into the race? Wouldn't it be funny if they got into the playoffs and go all the way through again and win the World Series?
I would find it very funny and I know I would laugh.

Good times to be a Met's fan they are stacked with talent. Did'nt David Wright hit 2 3 run home runs the other night.

Hat tip to rookie Clay Buchholz for his no-hitter tonight for the Boston Red Sox against the Baltimore Orioles, 10-0.

As of today, the way the Phillies and the Padres are playing that the Mets could miss out on the playoffs altogether!

Right now the Brewers are winning and the Cubs are losing. As an ardent Cardinals fan I'm rooting for the Brewers. The Cards are out of it. Too many injuries and never really enough pitching. There may be lean years ahead for them.
The Brewers are a marvelous young team with a great future. They may not make it this year, but they are going to be big trouble in the years ahead.
I like the team, although they might want to get a different manager.

| | | The Mets Lose Again!
And meanwhile the Padres and the Phillies win! The Phil's are 1.5 back and the Mets now have the same record as the wildcard leading Padres.
Will the Mets choke?
