Any archer's post on PB? What kind of bow do you use?

I have a take down recurve bow, InterNature. I hardly get to use it though for lack of time and a place to shoot. I hope to set something up in my back yard though, that would make it a lot easier for me

Which bow from InterNature? Is it a target or hunting bow? I make my own bows, English Long bows, but I do have a stainless steel two piece pop'n'jay bow. It's 40 years old and look brand new.
Two old to try and shoot I think.
Peace,
j

mine is a GT-62, probably a youth bow (I'm not too strong). It's just for target shooting, though I suppose I could shoot a chicken ;-)

It doesn't need to be a heavy draw weight to be fun, I started with a 38# bow and I'm now using a 75# English Longbow! I was hooked and still use the lighter bows for latter in the day.
Have you ever shot off the knuckle or do you have an arrow shelf on your bow, I've pretty much went from a fiberglass bow to ALL wooden traditional equipment...so I'm not even sure if you can get a modern bow without a shelf.
Peace,
j

I'm not quite sure what off the knuckle means... but I usually have my arrows in my back pocket until I use them. I have aspirations of making a really pretty quiver. I made my arm guard from leather I bought at the taxidermy place, it's not fancy or anything though. I do hope to get some leather stamping tools and using those to decorate them.

"off the knuckle" just means the arrow rests on my knuckle instead of an arrow shelf/rest, that's all. No sights or shelf, just the knuckle of my index finger. Some folks dislike the way the feathers come off the hand but you get use to it, most people wear gloves but I haven't really gotten around to making one yet.
Anyone hunting with traditional bows?
Peace,
j

Peace,
j | I don't have a bow but I find them fascinating. This link makes mention of some target shooting with a longbow at 100 meters! All I can say is wow.

Once you shoot a ELB [English Longbow], it's hard to shoot anything else.

My Dad used to go bow hunting and was into making his own arrows for a while when I was young. I have lately been very interested in doing it since my girls are making them out of branches and string. They would just love to actually do it. Do you have some websites you can point me to about archery?
