| | | My wife and I will see it, then send money to our grandkids in Illinois to see it. Frankly, I love using the book as a pro-life tract ("a person is a person, no matter how small"). However, that will probably not be the spin put on it in the Jim Carey version.
(BTW, I hated his Grinch)

(BTW, I hated his Grinch) | Apparently Dr. Seuss didn't like it being used by pro-lifers, but it's true nonetheless. |

| | Has anyone except me ever thought of "Horton Hears a Who" as being analogous to the evidentialist case for the existence of God? As you watch the movie, think on these things....

Sounds like this story makes a great argument against abortion!

| | The movie is an amazing critique of materialism.
The kangaroo is the abrasive, berating skeptic, dying to keep everyone around her in the same slough of skepticism she is in through intimidation tactics and condescension. She dogmatically asserts her worldview when presented with evidence it is false; "If you can't see it or feel it, then it CANNOT exist!" In the end, she is ultimately proven wrong, and is shamed publicly even by her own son whom she, earlier in the movie, exhibits a willingness to give up to exterminate Horton and his opposition to her materialism, despite claiming she does everything for him.
Somehow, I think this was lost on the rest of the audience.

| | | Didn't the California courts just come out with a ruling against pouchschoolers unless they were credentialed zoo residents? Nevermind. The Governator issued a statement supporting the pouchschoolers. | |
