I laugh every time I see it. It's funny because it pokes fun of every cheesiness that distinguished Star Trek and the geek obsession that surrounds the Trek culture. This is probably one of the funniest scenes in any movie: Quote:
[The actors are flying a shuttle to an alien planet]
Guy Fleegman: [whimpering] I changed my mind, I wanna go back.
Sir Alexander Dane: After the fuss you made about getting left behind?
Guy Fleegman: Yeah, but that's when I thought I was the crewman that stays on the ship and something is up there and it kills me. But now I'm thinking I'm the guy that gets killed by some monster five minutes after we land on the planet.
Jason Nesmith: You're not going to die on the planet, Guy.
Guy Fleegman: I'm not? Then what's my last name?
Jason Nesmith: It's, um... um, um... I don't know.
Guy Fleegman: Nobody knows. You know why? Because my character isn't important enough for a last name... because I'm gonna die five minutes in.
Gwen DeMarco: Guy, you have a last name.
Guy Fleegman: [hysterical]: Do I?! DO I?! For all you know, I'm "Crewman Number Six"! [puts his head on Gwen's shoulder and cries] Mo-ommm-yy!
Sir Alexander Dane: [dead-panned] Are we there yet?

This is one of my wifes favorite movies, maybe in her top 2 or 3. I enjoyed it but no where near as much as she.

This movie IS a classic! There are some movies that you can only watch once, but not this movie. My husband and I could watch this movie at least once a week. It is very quotable.

My wife and I have seen Qalaxy Quest probably 100 times. A classic. We've also seen Mystery Men probably just as many times.

Pure classic film. I remember seeing it in theaters and I don't I think I have ever laughed so hard in a theater. I almost, literally, fell out of my chair. It was at that moment that I realized that all the times my dad made me watch Star Trek were so that I would fully appreciate this movie. Pure excellence.

I teach a course to young Officers and whenever I introduce the Theory of War and talk about Sun Tzu and Clausewitz, I always use the Sphinx to describe why so many people find Sun Tzu more profound than Clausewitz. For me, Sun Tzu states the obvious but does it in pithy aphorisms. I love the scene when Capt Furious is angry that he's lost leadership of his crew to the Sphinx. Quote:
Mr. Furious: Okay, am I the only one who finds these sayings just a little bit formulaic? "If you want to push something down, you have to pull it up. If you want to go left, you have to go right." It's...
The Sphinx: Your temper is very quick, my friend. But until you learn to master your rage...
Mr. Furious: ...your rage will become your master? That's what you were going to say. Right? Right?
The Sphinx: Not necessarily.

I grew up with "Star Trek" junkies and I loved watching "Next Generation" when I came home from school. I think having those movies in my back pocket gave me too the appreciation for such fine theatre! I cannot help but find "Galaxy Quest" halarious!
"A Christmas Story" is another classic!!! Not only should this movie be in your repartee, but also, "Christmas Vacation". Can I get a thumbs UP?!?!
