| | | Prayer for Pakistan
A word from Rev. Frank van Dalen, Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church foreign mission board secretary, and Delores McDonald, editor of the ARP Magazine, in regards to the current situation in Pakistan: Quote:
A Prayer for Pakistan
I had not intended to send out an update this week. However, after the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan yesterday, I want to share with you a few words from World Witness director Frank van Dalen; an excerpt from the World Witness article in the upcoming February issue of the ARP Magazine:
"In the foreign missions activity of the Church, we are reminded every day that we depend completely upon the Lord. There are simply too many times when the political situation changes without warning. As I write this article, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan lies dead from a bomb blast. And there are riots in the streets of every major and minor city - including Sahiwal, where our Christian Hospital is based. Yesterday, no one would have predicted such chaos.
"But it is especially in times of chaos that we need to remind ourselves of the sovereignty of the Lord in all things. This does not mean that we can abdicate from our own responsibilities in missions. We need to be obeying the Great Commission with all the energy that we can muster. That means we need to work faithfully, support sacrificially, and pray without ceasing. But as we do so, we must remember that the outcome depends upon the Lord. He is the only One who can defeat "the arm of flesh" which the devil constantly uses against us."
God bless you as you seek Him in every aspect of your life in the New Year.
Delores
