| | | Psalms in the Red Trinity Hymnal?
Are there Psalms or accurate Psalm paraphrases in the red Trinity hymnal? If so, what pages? Thanks.

But several of the Psalm/Psalter selections are taken from different Presbyterian psalters over the centuries, including even from the Genevan psalter.
We sang three of them today: Hymn 149 (from Ps 119), 88 (from Ps 138), and 437 (from Ps 67). All three of these selectison come from The Psalter from the old United Presbyterian Church (which we still use along with the red Trinity Hymnal). Hymn 87 is from Ps 23 (taken from the 1650 Scottish Psalter). Anyway, there's a few examples.

I played one this morning. "Blessed is the Man" (Psalm 1) #564
#85,86,87 are Psalm 23
#1 All People That on Earth do Dwell (Psalm 100)
Those are the ones that come to mind. If you go to the Scripture reference index (pages 900 & 901) in the Trinity Hymnal, you can find the ones which are complete. Many of them are based on one or two verses.

I want to say that there are at least 83 songs taken directly from various Psalters. There are even more that are based on Psalms. I'll have to see if I can find a list...

One can leaf through the Red Trinity Hymnal and check the source listed on the right just below the hymn. As noted on page 11:
Metrical Psalm -- "Psalm (number)"
Psalm version -- "From Psalm (number)"
Psalm paraphrase -- "Based on Psalm (number)"
I would consider the first two to by psalter type entries.

I take it we know that a red Psalter is published by and widely used in PCA/OPC churches. Many churches have both the red hymnal and the red psalter: CEP Bookstore - TRINITY PSALTER
