| What would you do? redux Thanks to all who helped me decide on motherboard exchange in an existing PC versus buying a new machine.
Based on that advice, I've changed the motherboard in my HP (the motherboard is an ASUS a8N-LA) and now can see the HP screen appear, but it isn't going to Windows. It stops shy of going to Windows and says a boot disk needs to be inserted. This is better than prior to exchanging the MB....before I did that it would not even get to the HP screen...however, there is no sign of a hard drive problem and I'm not sure what to do next.
I don't have any recovery disks or boot disks. Perhaps I should get some and then see if I can get to Windows that way.
Should it be loading Windows fine if the hard disk is OK and it only needed an MB exchange?
If I get a boot disk and it loads, how can I get things going again (assuming the hard drive is fine) without needing the boot disk in the future?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
