What does this mean? Is there something one needs to do to figure out what the deal is, Yo? Internet flaw could let hackers take over the Web

Your question was posed very eloquently my friend.
There's nothing you will need to do. I was wondering the same thing when I saw this earlier today. It looks like it's a Network or Application issue that needs to be fixed by the vendors. I'm going to make sure my services are patched.

WOW!
A side note: I watch movies from the 80s about computers and top technology and it is hard to think that this was the Pre-Net world. Say a major virus wiped out all the internet and it no longer functioned....WOW! How hard would that be to beleive. I am here where some folks call the "end of the world" and I am even building a house in a more remote area and through satelitte technology I can google while the folks in the surrounding village chop trees with stone axes and wear grass skirts.....
The net is mind-blogglingly amazing in its impact on human life.

[Mama gasps] Bobby Boucher: Everything is the devil to you, Mama! Well, I like school, and I like football! And I'm gonna keep doin' them both because they make me feel good! Bobby Boucher: [Bobby runs out, slamming the door, then comes back in] And by the way, Mama. "Alligators" are ornery 'cause of their "Medula Oblongata"!

I updated my windows today; boy that took a chunk of time away; does anyone know which update covers this problem? I wasn't sure from the descriptions. I check at DoxPara Research and it says I still "appear to be vulnerable" though they also said not to worry much about it. |

If you're worried about waiting for your ISP to fix this problem for your client computer then use OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet. You can set your PC client up to point to this DNS.

Woohoo! I did the thingy wot openDNS told me to, and now doxpara tells me I 'appear to be safe'. Mmmm, technology is not my thing, so I don't have a blind clue what I've done. However, I am feeling happy because a website I had never heard of until yesterday says I'm safe!

That sounds like a serious flaw that could have been and may yet be a major problem. I second Rich's suggestion -- it looks like OpendDNS was never susceptible to this problem based on their blog post.
