Networking question

I recently purchased a laptop and set up a wireless network with my wife's laptop and mine. We shared hers before I bought mine and I had downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird and used it for a few weeks. When I go into networking, I see the file for Thunderbird setup but don't see anything else pertaining to it. Is there any way to download Thunderbird, messages and all, to my laptop from hers?

This is more of a Thunderbird question. As I understand it, you want to copy her mailbox from her computer to yours.

Here's one how-to I found: Backing up Your Email Folder in Thunderbird on Windows XP/2000 :: ASK US, University of Hawaii System

Yes, that's what I'm wanting to do, copy her mailbox to my computer. I've never had a network before so I didn't know what the capabilities are. I was able to copy some documents that I had stored. I think the emails and the program are probably under "Program Files" somewhere but that doesn't appear to be accessible. The Thunderbird setup file shows up under "desktop", so I would be able to dl that, but the program itself doesn't appear in the folder even though there is a shortcut to Thunderbird on the desktop.

The backup instructions involve saving the emails to an external storage device. I don't have an external storage device except for the ancient hard drive that I will soon try to put into an enclosure so I can copy some files from it, mainly the Opera browser and its built in email client which has a bunch of old emails. Maybe I can try to use it for transferring the Thunderbird emails too. There aren't any important emails on there (and nothing real important on the old hard drive either), but I was wondering if it could be done.

Just make sure that, on her new laptop, you check the box that says "Leave the messages on the server" or else they will be deleted upon the very first retrieval.
