I just came across the news that Google Sync allows push email from Gmail. It essentially (as far as I can tell) makes Gmail an Exchange like service with push email, contacts and calendar.

I can't use it because I already have an Exchange service (and Apple, in its infinite wisdom as to what is perfect for everyone all of the time, determined that no one ever needs more than one Exchange service on iPhone).

Anyway, if you are not using an Exchange service, this looks very nice:
