The examples given are interesting and I wish to study them further. Not all of the examples, in my opinion, are properly classified as prophetic utterances -- some are predictions or prayers. However, the key thing to keep in mind about these statements by Reformers and others is that there is a difference between that which is ordinary and that which is extraordinary. The beginning of the Reformation and the Killing Times were extraordinary times in which some may have thought (whether correctly or not) that God would work in special ways much like the Apostolic Age. When one keeps this mind, these historical examples are far removed from the claims of today's charismatic movement.
