Would it be possible for each member to have a my favorite/watched threads area of their control panel? Some forums have this, and I was just wondering if this could be a possibility.

I think it's called "Subscribed Threads" and it's available in the Quick Links drop-down list in the upper right. Of course first you use "Thread Tools" and 'Subscribe to this Thread'. Is this what you were thinking?
