Mods: please provide a rationale for closing threads

Most of the time, you guys are great about this, but on occasion, a thread is closed for no given reason. Case(s)-in-point, the two recent threads regarding Mark Driscoll and his alleged "vulgarity" in the pulpit on the Church Office board. Both were closed without any explanation (coincidentally, I posted the final replies in both threads before they were shuttered).

It benefits everyone here (especially those involved in the threads) when the specific reason for the thread's closing is given. Folks need to know if there was some rules violation, or if the mods have just determines that they don't like the direction a thread seems to be headed, or something else.

Thanks!

We'll give it some thought (and have very recently), Rae. You yourself noted that we're most of the time "great about this," which seems to me would not warrant a public thread concerning the matter.

Now, I'm closing this thread.

Admin reason for closure:

This thread would have been better suited as a private message to one of the MODS or Admins. The purpose of "The Suggestion Box" is to suggest features and things that make the Board better (i.e. not the people on the board, but the actual functionality of the board). Suggestions for better Moderating (which I'm certainly not above, since I'm weak and frail in many ways) would be far more profitable in a message directly to us.

It is God that multiplies our sorrows....
God, as a righteous Judge, does it, which ought to silence us under all our sorrows; as many as they are, we have deserved them all, and more: nay, God, as a tender Father, does it for our necessary correction, that we may be humbled for sin, and weaned from the world by all our sorrows; and the good we get by them, with the comfort we have under them, will abundantly balance our sorrows, how greatly soever they are multiplied. - Matthew Henry
