Make it formal and structured allowing for a moderator to govern the debate.

I voted yes.
Did you read the subsequent posts wherein I outlined precisely these things?

Harrumph, harrumph. This is silly; folks, see the debate forum for the rules that will govern any debates there. When we can, we will have the EP debate. If that didn't burn the place down, we'll try baptism, if we can get the same caliber folks involved. Really, I think this debate about debate is done.

When heresy rises in an evangelical body, it is never frank and open. It always begins by skulking, and assuming a disguise. Its advocates, when together, boast of great improvements, and congratulate one another on having gone greatly beyond the ‘old dead orthodoxy,’ and on having left behind many of its antiquated errors: but when taxed with deviations from the received faith, they complain of the unreasonableness of their accusers, as they ‘differ from it only in words.’ This has been the standing course of errorists ever since the apostolic age. Samuel Miller, Introductory essay, The Articles of the Synod of Dort (1841).

Why? Nobody's either forced to read or contribute on the Puritan Board.
That is true, but Eph. 4:1-6 means that we should make every effort not to unnecessarily antagonize differing brethren.
I don't see how this would, in any way, contradict the passage you quoted, seeing as how it would be a formal, organized debate, consisting of a gentlemen proponent of each respective viewpoint. I'll confess, your original comment, and the event to which it hinted, seemed to be from left field. It seemed also to be a dredging up of things which have already been repented of (i.e. the April Fool's shenanigan, by yours truly), and (as Bob noted) hopefully everyone else has gotten past in the spirit of forgiveness. Nonetheless, forgive me if I'm overreacting and taking it just a bit personally...but your supplied Scripture applies not.
