Preterism, Futurism And Historicism

In his book "end time delusions", Steve Wohlberg, a 7th day adventist minister makes the assertion that futurism and preterism were started by the jesuits to take the heat off the pope for the historicist teaching that the pope is the anti-christ. Does anyone here have any info that this postition is taken by any more historicists? How does an adventist get the support he gets from the reformed community? He had many endorsements of his book from the likes of Frances Nigel Lee and Charles Roberts.

Go to the SWRB website they have more on this. They would agree that Futurism and Preterism were started by the Jesuits and it is known that most Protestants, until the 19th century, did think that the papacy was the anti-Christ. Andrew I am sure would know more about this.
