| | | Using the Lord's Name in Vain
When people say "the Lord has showed me" or "the Lord helped me", etc. are they not opening up for the possibility that the Lord steered them in the wrong direction? Can claiming that the Lord helped someone do something or showed them something (when that "something" could be sin or wrong) be using the Lord's name in vain?

I've wondered the same thing, though not in those words. I know someone who regularly credits the Lord with her rather heterodox leaps of illogic. It makes me cringe, it used to make me wonder who's right?

I have known that women have used "God's will" to assert the rightness of their position before. They are so manipulative. How, can I argue with a woman that has divine providence on her side? Oh well. Puritanhead

| Right...but the "best thing ever"? Which I know you didn't mean. Which is why I played the part of a fundie. Which is why you should retract from actually labeling me a fundie. Which is....ok. Enough whiches.
