The Law of God Discussions relating to the 10 Commandments, uses of the Law, etc.
Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. (Ps. 119:97)

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God.

Theonomy and Drug Laws

Out of curiosity, how to theonomists view civil laws against drugs. Do they hold that drugs should be legalized?

Other than Romans 13, I have a difficult time defending these laws with Scripture.

I don't think the anti drug laws are at odds with Old Testament laws.

I guess one could take the "general equity" clause and say that all law is moral or procedural to a moral concept. So we could say that the anti-drug laws have as their goal, similar to anti-speeding laws and stop signs, preservation of life.

curious question...

Let me set out by saying I do not claim any sides in the Theonomy debate. I'm still looking for satifying answers. I'm not an authority, just a curious inquirer!!

In reference to the "general equity" clause, if we can extend the scope of morality to encompass drug laws (which I agree with) could one also in "general equity" retract to some degree existing biblical judicial law without compromising it? My point is that I do not believe extending it to drug laws compromises God's law (in fact it seems like comon sense). Even though one could argue, poorly I think, it would constitute adding to the law. So likewise what about pulling back a bit from the absolute adherance to the law, would that be subtracting out right?

Or more specifically, if we did that would we still be considered theonomic? This has been delt with to some degree I know, but I'm not quite clear on it. So please I apologize if I'm asking you guys to rehash the point, but please help me out.

Sorry if that went to far off topic.
