| | | The only image of Christ prescribed in Scripture
This is just something that popped into my head, so i am interested in your thoughts.
Reading John Frame's new book started me thinking through the second commandment again. It kind of struck me that the only prescribed image of Christ is that found in believers... Rom 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; (NASB)
We are to look at the Body of Christ to see the image of Christ, not pictures.
Just as when Christ was the image bearer there were no images made, so while we are the image bearer there should be no images made.
Also check out 1 Cor 11:7, 2 Cor 3:18

Some day! I still see a church that has much more conforming before she resembles Christ. But, since we are in Him and we are growing into his likeness by sanctification, we do have some resemblance to him.
He predestined to become conformed.

He predestined to become conformed. | Exactly...and since much work still needs to be done on the prescribed image of Christ in the Church, we shouldn't waste our time with the other images. Let's focus our attention on conforming the Church to His image.
