Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. (2 Sam 6:5)

For Your Edification - "Behold, the Lamb of God" from Handel's Messiah

I have recently been listening to the entirety of the Messiah during my long commutes, and have been deeply moved by the reverence and greatness of that music. I do not believe that there could have been a better union between these texts of Scripture and the music by which they were set.

This movement in particular caused me to pause in my thoughts, and to worship our Savior for the amazing work that He accomplished for us:

I sang in that in 2002. That was one of my favorite songs.

Handel's Messiah is one of my favorite works. I have never had the privilege of singing in it, but I have been in the orchestra. Lovely piece of music, thanks for posting this.

Adam, have you read John Newton's sermons on the texts Handel set for Messiah? Now, there's a volume someone should republish!
