| | | The concerto(s) for unaccompanied cello...those are Bach's best. But you cannot beat Bach...except maybe Vivaldi...hmmm...nah, Bach is still on top.

| | | My vote for the best piece of music ever written is the Concerto in F Major after Vivaldi, BWV 978. When Bach takes up Vivaldi, that is as near perfection as we can expect in the sublunary world. |

| | | Gentlemen,
Bach is my favorite composer. As they say, "If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it!"
Brian
P.S. I also enjoy Chopin who was heavily influnced by Bach. In fact, I enjoy the Romantic Period as much as the Baroque.

| | I love Tocatta and Fugue in D minor! Sometimes I try to imagine how high people jumped out of their seats when the organ played the opening measures for the very first time! |

| | | Hi Nikki! I could be Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, They are usually both given credit, I just like Johann Christian Bach's compositions better, and he influenced Haydn. So I think he was the first based on my line of reasoning. |

| | | The best recording of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin is that by Nathan Milstein (1903-1992), recorded in London in 1973. It's on Deutsche Grammophon Records as a 2-CD budget set.
Get it.
