The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.
In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel-Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.
His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.
| Wow, a good reread of Ecclesiastes is in order this week.

Very sad. Another soul probably in eternal hell. If you want to see the effects of the fall, just look at this guy's life.
Michael Jackson did a lot for music. "Another One Bites the Dust" wasn't put forth as a famous single until Michael suggested it after a concert. Ironically it is at a great tempo for performing CPR

I am not surprised. He had about anything this world could offer and now I hate to think what he has to look forward to.

Amen, Pergamum.
it seems that 50 yrs old is pretty young to be having cardiac arrest, especially for someone of his weight. I wonder what the cause was?

The death of anyone is a time for serious reflection. He was a son, a brother and a father, let's hold off on the jokes. Quote: |
Luke 13:1 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

People also ought to be careful about saying he is in hell; as if you were with him in his last days or dying moments. He very well may have repented of his sin and been converted. Judgment is for the Lord alone.

I know that at one time the Jackson family were practicing Jehovah's Witnesses.
Was Michael Jackson still affiliated with the JWs? Somehow I recall that years ago there was a mutual parting of ways.

| | | Michael Jackson Dies at 50
He died of massive cardiac arrest in Los Angeles at about 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 25th.
As far as anyone knows, he did not know Christ when he died.
At his death, he was approximately $400,000,000 in debt.
May God use Jackson's death to bring members of his family to Christ.

Yes, more than $400,000,000.
His family will be grieving for several reasons:
(1) They have, of course, lost a brother, nephew, cousin, etc.
(2) A cynic (who, me?) would say that the rest of the family has now lost its meal ticket, since none of his siblings (with the possible exception of Janet) is anywhere nearly as talented as he was.
(3) Jackson has left many large messes to be cleaned up by others. He owed money to everybody, and you can bet that the legal and financial buzzards and vultures are already circling. It'll take years to untangle his finances, especially...
(4) ...Because - you can almost predict it - he was wacko enough for there to be either (a) no will or (b) 5 wills, each of which says something completely different from the others.
On the other hand, perhaps his three children will now have at half a chance at living at least a semi-normal life.

Very sad.
Not to rejoice in his death, but I am looking forward to the various tributes that will be on TV over the coming weeks. He was quite a performer, so it will be fun to look back on his better days.

Wow! When Elvis died, I could not understand why "old people" didn't get it about what a signal cultural moment it was. But, now, frankly, I don't get it, having NEVER enjoyed either his music or his entertaining. The closest I came was appreciating Weird Al's parody of Jackson. The 24/7 coverage on Fox drove me nuts last night since "cap and trade" is coming up for a vote today and it will effect me MUCH more than the passing of an entertainer, even a pop icon ("the king of pop"). Yet, cap and trade was sidelined by the endless recital of Jackson.
Man . . . it sure feels odd to be . . . so . . . old.

I've never paid much attention to Michael Jackson's music over the years. There was just something about his "image" and some allogations that made me not go out of the way to hear his music.
This morning, a local radio station was playing a tribute to him (as I'm sure other stations globally are as well) while I was out getting gas for the car. I decided to listen to the songs. Some I recognized, other were new to me. I must say listening to him I was really impressed with how talented he was.
Afterwards, I was driving with my wife somewhere and I asked her what her favorite Michael Jackson songs were. The one that came to mind was Ben. I'd forgotten about that one (and actually'd forgotten that he sung that one) - nice song!
