| | | Jimi Hendrix - the social conservative!
A startling example of how our culture has changed in 40 years.
Hendrix had a song called "purple haze." In the song there is this line:
"Acting funny, but I don't know why; excuse me, while I kiss
this guy!"
He would be banned from the music industry today for such a hate-filled politically incorrect message.

Now that is Rock and Roll.
excuse me while I kiss this guy..... ROFLOL
If that was the line, I guess we would have known why he wasn't in the Army any longer.
Purple Haze was LSD. We who use to partake of its essence thought we were kissing the sky. I have a few friends who never returned from kissing it. They are still out there somewhere.

Hendrix would have been 66 this year - if it's possible to think of him as an old man...
Listening to "Red House" made me wonder what his career would have been like if he had opted to be solely a blues musician. He could have recreated the genre in his image!

Jimi Hendrix represented, both culturally and morally, the worst in our country's history. I believe it to be impossible to separate the music from the man and everything that he represented. I used to like Jimi Hendrix when I used to take drugs because his music made you think that life was all about you and your "highs." Nothing could be more wrong.
Sorry if this offends anyone. That is not my intent at all. I simply get nautious when I see one of the great icons of evil in America get lionized. The reason I hate hearing him play the national anthem is because his idea of America (and thus, what he meant when he played it) is one of promiscuity, nihilism, and hedonistic pleasure at all times.
