Music Discuss all things musical
Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. (2 Sam 6:5)

How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place

Stumbled upon this recording. It's a wonderful piece from Brahms' Requiem. It's one of those that makes me wish I were a tenor. Great parts all around here, but the tenor line soars.

Yes! That whole piece is amazing! And the fact that the texts are all from the Bible is a great bonus, of course!

For me, the height is the Robert Shaw Chorale. The Brit choruses are too wimpy for Brahms, IMO.

The civic choir I used to belong to did the Brahm's Requiem several years ago - it was a wonderful experience. Our church choir is going to do "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" this coming season - of course, there will be a huge difference between 20 voices and a piano and 50+ voices and a small orchestra but it will still be good.
