Music Discuss all things musical
Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. (2 Sam 6:5)

I first heard this song on the radio circa 1978 as I was doing an all night drive from Montana to San Diego. It's a long drive, BTW.

It was winter, about 4 AM, when I passed the fruit inspection station near the Nevada/California border. The 30 below weather was left behind and it was a nice 65 degrees or so in the desert air. No other cars on the road, I'm sleepy, crank up the radio:

"On a dark desert highway. . . ."

It was a perfect greeting to that (once and I hope again) fair state.
