| | | Deficient Grace: Arminian's Rendition of "Amazing Grace" EDIT: To hear the newest version, go to the bottom post, or here: Reformers, Puritans, and a Geek » Blog Archive » Deficient Grace: The Arminian’s Rendition of Amazing Grace
This is the Arminian's Rendition of "Amazing Grace" (see Lyrics below as audio is less than prime)
"Deficient Grace" “Deficient Grace” Verse 1:Total Depravity Terminated
On neutral ground, I’ll make my choice
Detached from death in sin
Able to see iniquity
And will myself to him Verse 2:Unconditional Election Conditioned
Twas grace that made me savable
But did not make it sure
It took my will to make it real
And it may not endure Verse 3:Limited Atonement Limited
The blood he shed, he shed for all
A mere symbol of his love
Held no real pow’r in of itself
Just vain hope from above Verse 4:Irresistible Grace Resisted
This god is but a gentleman
Not wanting to intrude
We have rejected o’er and o’er
While he, for us, has wooed Verse 5: Perseverance of the Saints Perished
I willed myself to be redeemed
On one of my smart days
So if I sin badly enough
I’ll probably fall away
or Alternate Verse 5:
Though he’s big enough to justify
And hold me in his hand
I’m strong enough to leave his grip
And thwart his pseudo-plan

| | | Wow! I am finishing up a study of TULIP this Sunday with some 30-somethings in our church. Working on the lesson tonight, it lacked a suitable ending. HERE IT IS! They will love "Deficient Grace" as a closing. Thanks!

| | | The lyrics are already on my Powerpoint slides. The You Tube will be the main feature. I loved it. It was hilarious! Don't fear. It is just a class, not a congregation. |

| | | The sad thing is that there are people who believe in those lyrics and at the same time say things like, "We exalt Christ alone. We believe that salvation is by God's grace alone.".

| | Great job Josh!!!
How long did it take you to re-write the lyrics?
I especially like:
"I willed myself to be redeemed
On one of my smart days"

| | | Arminian Jazz Music! I understand its parody of the Arminian system, but sad to say, the position of so many. I was in a discussion with someone just this past week who used the words "God is a gentleman" to deny the effectual call.
Again, thanks.

| | | btw...My wife watched and said she especially likes the Guinness t-shirt.
I'm always amazed by musical talent. I've many friends who play guitar and such. I've tried a number of times in my life to 'learn' to play an instrument and finally gave up. I'm 43 now and I've come to realize I have no artistic talents. I can fix a mean computer and understand various systems inside and out though.
Again good work Josh, you have quite a talent there. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Seb For This Useful Post: | |

| | | Good job, Josh! Don't worry, I have a Guinness t-shirt too!
I think Arminius actually would agree with total depravity, yet he says the work of Christ removes it for all mankind, with regard to their wills, so that they can choose to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. Most arminians today would not follow him in this thinking, for they are Pelagians.
Blessings! When's the Theological Song Album due out?

| | | Woo doggy! That right there's some hot tunes ye got goin' on. You have a nice voice.
And hilarious as this may be, just remember to keep praying for our Arminian friends. May they be able to share the liberation we have in knowing that everything is in God's hands.
