Music Discuss all things musical
Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. (2 Sam 6:5)

She has a lovely voice, especially her earlier work.

Lovely voice. Whacked out life. From a sweet little girl with an astounding voice to a messed up young lady trying her hardest to live like a..... , well never mind. So very sad. When she was young we bought several of her albums. My daughter loved them. As my daughter grew up we could no longer in good conscience buy her music. This world is wicked and cruel. Even today occasionally my daughter will bring up just how trashy Charlotte Church has become and how it is a great example of what happens to a human heart apart from Christ.

Yeah, I suppose many secular singers' lives are not what I would want to engage in, but she is a especially sad case. I wonder if she tried to rebel out of classical music and the "innocent" persona which came with her style of singing so that she could be like "other singers"? I still listen to her music as it's not morally wrong like her life.

Charlotte Church's parents (and her and her teacher) made some extremely bad decisions with regard to what she would be singing. Quite apart from any moral issues, a 16-year-old should NOT be singing Carmen. She wrecked her voice, and hadn't been singing at least for a while. Personally, I don't think she'll ever get back to the classical style she had before. And if she keeps on singing like this, her career in pop won't be very long either. They don't train vocalists like they used to.

Ain't that the truth. They don't train preachers either.

On the other hand, there are some incredible singers out there still...

And some incredible preachers too...

I have her earlier stuff. I'm not sure if I've ever heard Carmen.

It's on the album entitled Enchantment. The band (#3) is "Habanera," which is from Bizet's opera Carmen. Real opera singers do not try to tackle Carmen until they are thirty, any more than they should tackle Wagner until they are thirty.

Ok, have this one and do remember her saying that she was proud that she could sing a certain song which most ppl don't sing until later in their careers. So you think it ruined her voice?
