JOHN OWEN RE-PRESBYTERI-ANIZED

Did anybody heard this or read something before that John owen,on his deathbed, re-affirmed Presbyterianism ?

See this next articel van Nigel Lee :
http://www.dr-fnlee.org/docs5/owenpres/owenpres.html

Do you think that this articel is really clear that Owen turnes at the end of his life again to Presbyterianism ?

Owen says, "Only, thus much I desire may be premised, that the principles and rules of that church government from which, in the followign assertions, I desire not to wander are of that kind (to which I do, and always, in my poor judgment, have adhrered, since, by God's assistance, I had engaged myself tot he study of His word) which commonly called presbyterial or synodical in opposition to prelatical or diocesan on the one side, and that which is commonly called independent or congregational on the other." (Owen, Works, Volume 13, Page 39).

That about does it for me.

This thread pointed to this old one here. I don't see where the pedigree of the quotation from Owen was addressed. It is from a work written in the 1640s before Owen became a congregationalist, so doesn't really address if Owen subsequently changed back to Presbyterian views or not.

The Regulative Principle: Samuel Miller gives a succinct statement of this principle when he writes that since the Scriptures are the “only infallible rule of faith and practice, no rite or ceremony ought to have a place in the public worship of God, which is not warranted in Scripture, either by direct precept or example, or by good and sufficient inference.”

I few brothers who are minsters in a Presbyterian Church, and who also love the works of Owen, are not convinced by the studie of N. Lee that Owen would embraced Re- Presyteri-anized again.
