Hey Brian, thank you for your effort. That was decent of you. I do understand the seriousness of the Lord's Supper though. I just believed that the people in the O.P. were being thankful to the Lord and allowing everyone to participate. But then, I wasn't actually there so I can't be sure of what I am saying which means I only have an opinion. I am enjoying the discussion though.

I am happy to hear that you take the Lord's Supper seriously. I just hope that you can see how the account shared from this particular church not biblical in relation to the passages shared in the 1689LBC.
I firmly believe that The Lord's Supper is something that should be taken in awe and repentance before the Lord. Remember that just because as you said, "I just believe the people in the O.P.were being thankful to the Lord and allowing everyone to participate", does not make the practice biblically proper. There are consequences for those who partake that are not worthy of partaking in The Lord's Supper.

1Co 11:28-30 But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh, eateth and drinketh judgment unto himself, if he discern not the body.
30 For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.
ASV

Two comments and another one.

First of all, I don't think the church being referred to was an O.P. church, although Bob is a member of one, being the same O.P.C. that I belong to. I am sure it was another denomination. You could U2U Bob and he might verify that.

Second, David did dance before the LORD with all his might, but I don't believe it was during a worship service - it was during the time the ark was being brought back. So naked liturgical dancing really is not acceptable during the worship service.

And third, I too come from another background and, while I do have concerns about certain doctrinal issues, one of the reasons we joined the church is precisely because the RPW is taken so seriously. I hope as you continue to study the issue you will understand why we do.

Peace to you, my brother. We have more in common than you think.

I think he meant O.P. to mean Original Post.

Well, we had just gotten home from Indiana about 7:30 Monday night so I thought I would check on the PB and see what was new since Friday. We had a good weekend visiting the mothers but as always it is good to be home.

Ouch! Though I would say family worship would be better than what Bob experienced...JMHO.

The video they showed instead of a sermon was from the series called The Gospel Journey. It's supposed to be a christian version of a reality tv show. A youth pastor took 8 young people hiking in the Rockies and he presents the Bible to them. They are an antheist, a wiccan, a Presbyterian, a dancer and several other things.

My daughter was so confused, she learned more about Wiccans than the gospel. Before that they showed a trailer for the upcoming series about the DaVinci code. The trailer just kept asking questions like, "Is the Bible really the Word of God?", 'Was Jesus the son of God?", "Did Jesus have children?", "Can the Bible be trusted?"

Again my 11 year old saw all these questions and got no answers. She was getting very irritated. It gave us great discussion later but it was grueling to sit through.

The pastor couldn't get ordained by the EV Free Church so he started his own. Anything goes baby!

It was more like MTV's Real World I think. Everybody's opinion seemed to get equal weight and nothing was questioned or defended, just shown to be a facinating contrast.

Man, I sit and wrestle and contemplate what my next thread will be. As I type it out I think, "Maybe this will stir up a great response, maybe hit that '30 reply' mark. Alas, my best attempts end with 2 or 3 replies and then go to the archives to frag into oblivion.

Now I start a thread complaining about a lousy church I went to and I get 55 replies. FIFTY-FIVE!!!! Wooooohooooo!

I've decided I'm going to go to a raunchy stink-fest of a church every week from now on just so I can come back here and get the ego-biscuits from the people I need them from the most. This is so great!

Hey, can anyone tell me how to get to Ron Parley's World Harvest Church? Where's TD Jakes gonna be this weekend? Ooh, ooh, JOYCE MEYER is coming to a town near me! YESSSSSSSSSS! I am so there.

I know what you mean Colleen. I heard some ladies from my old church giggling as they were getting ready to go to one of her barftastic events. I just about wretched listening to the Meyer phrases they were parroting. I'm still on the prayer chain and when one of the 'meyerettes' request a prayer it is usually so frivolous or makes God sound like he needs all the help we can give Him. Ugh!
