| | | child's perspective on church membership
Last night at the dinner my 7 year old boy asked why he had not seen a girl his age at church lately. We told him that their family has decided to attend another church. He said, "What about the promise they made to attend our church - when they stood up in front of everyone?" He was referring to when we received them into membership and they publicly took the membership covenant. It is amazing how perceptive children are and how much they understand about what is right and wrong.

But, after fourteen years of service in this capacity, I am absolutely certain that the finest theological seminary on earth is absolutely incompetent at replicating the actual life of a Gospel congregation. I want to train a generation of pastors who will train pastors, and I want to help them in that task." --- Dr. R. Beware of a religion without holdfasts. But if I get a grip upon a doctrine they call me a bigot. Let them do so. Bigotry is a hateful thing, and yet that which is now abused as bigotry is a great virtue, and greatly needed in these frivolous times. I have been inclined lately to start a new denomination, and call it "the Church of the Bigoted." Spurgeon
