| | | American Baptist Evangelicals?
Is anybody familiar with the American Baptist Evangelicals? I've pretty much steered away from American Baptist churches in my search for a church home. The ones I've been to were pretty seeker sensitive. I thought this might open up some possibilities.

We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. Within that denomination, we are aligned with the American Baptist Evangelicals, a reforming movement which seeks to call the denomination to fidelity to the Word of God and to historic Baptist principles. Our mission work extends from local interests such as the Christian Fellowship at Bridgewater State College to global interests such as Samaritan's Purse.[/quote:751518950d]
When they say "reforming", are they talking about 1689 type stuff, or just bringing the denomination back to where they were a few decades ago (before the woman pastors, etc)

I have not heard of this group. Might they be the ABC's version of the Founders group in the SBC? If so, that would be great!

I don't believe their of the 1689 fabric. They have this to say of their link to the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals

This is in more of the reformed tradition but there are some good resources here.

Josh and Lon,
Thanks for your responses.
I went to their website and found two churches in our area affiliated with the group. We've visited both those churches - definitely not the 1689-type baptists - 1986 maybe.
