Your Views on End Times Matters

An example of why one's views on end times matters. My neighbors are moving to Israel. They are gentiles but have adopted a form of Messianic Jewish theology. They are pre-mil, post-Trib. They believe they need to move to Israel because Matt. 24 says to flee to Petra when the tribulation comes. Therefore they need to be in a place (Israel) where they can flee to Petra. I am serious. They have sold their house and are having a garage sale today. This is obviously extreme, but has come home to me as these are my next door neighbors.

Regarding "Right Behind", I really got a good laugh out of this reviewer:

Quote:
This book is very uneducated and is not funny. Left behind series is a very good series that deals with a serious issue. And then you people come and poke fun of it. If the rapture were to happen now I bet you all would be left behind and take the mark of the beast. Spend money elsewhere like a left behind book or better yet a Bible. Find Jesus save your soul foolish human.

I'm not sure I can refute such a scholarly argument.

There are still people like this around? Really, I never encountered dispensationalism until university so I still can't understand where they are coming from.

"foolish human"?????????

I hope that reviewer made it back to the mother ship in time. If he, she or it is still out there, we 'monkey-boys' wish you well.

That's scary stuff Scott. Bring them DeMar's Last Days Madness. If you can't stop them then I hope you can find some good buys at their yard sale.

They had the complete set of Left Behind for sale. Now, left behind is pre-trib and these people are post-trib. Of course, if they were pre-trib there would be no need to move close to Petra.

Truly sad. Perhaps one day the Lord will give them teachers who know and teach the Word of God instead of buying into such silliness.

But for those who grew up with an orthodox view of eschatology, we ought to be truly thankful!

This stuff is all the rage out here in West Texas. I know several families who will do all the rituals, eat challa bread and wear the Jewish apparel tonight as they go through Sabbath traditions yet all of them claim to be Christians getting closer to God by understanding their roots. I know many who hope with all their heart to someday live in Israel. They teach their kids Hebrew in home school but I have not found a person yet that has helped bring a Jewish person to Christianity. Quite the opposite is going on.
And few dare question it for fear of being labeled anti-semitic.
There is a television station in Midland TX that was once called Prime Time Christian Broadcasting but as they had more and more and more Rabbis teaching old testament stuff they changed their name to God's Learning Channel. It broadcasts into nearly every town in West Texas and New Mexico. It is pretty much exclusive round the clock instruction on how to get closer to God through Judaism. I know some very close friends who continue to donate thousands to have the temple rebuilt. If this isn't going on in your area be thankful. I have never seen anything take the focus off of Jesus like this has. VERY trendy among the crowd that predicts dates of Christ's return. Oy Vey

I remember the Rivendell settlement in SW Virginia built in preparation for Y2K. Now a new worry is brewing about a crash related to the upcoming change in daylight savings time.

But fearful Protestants and Jews aren't the only ones preparing for wacky end times scenarios.

This Catholic group seems to be running from the same play book.

Its his son. He actually went to the Tim Lahaye School of Prophecy at Liberty. Dr Sock does most of the scholarly writing, though.

Doesn't Zola Levitt broadcast from down there?

I have a friend whoe VERY into the Hebraic Roots stuff. My impression is that it definately regresses back to law-keeping. Most Messianic Jewish congregations believe the Torah must still be kept, the ceremonial aspects as well as the moral. How this can be done without a temple and sacrifices I'm not sure.

Wow, this thing is getting outrageous. But its sad that it was only in the latter quarter of 2003, I started to move away from dispensationalism.

The above strikes me as apostacy pure and simple.

Nope, no one here believes in what Tim Lahaye writes in left behind, some of us used to.

Scripture does not support it one bit.

These "Jewish roots" people need to read Galatians! As for moving to Petra, your friends' geography is a bit off - they need to move to Jordan.

They want to be with who they believe are God's chosen people. Israel still provides better access to Petra than Texas.

so they actually think that eventhough they are Christians, that they are still not God's chosen people, albeit, second class citizens with the Jew first, whether the Jew believes or not on Christ. Its filth like this that makes me extremely angry at the Pre Tribbers that lead the flock astray with erroneous doctrines.
