| | | Evidences for an early or late date for the book of Revelation
I am fascinated by the debates for early or late dating of Revelation. The dispensationlist among others, insists upon 95-96 AD. Not only dispensationalists but most seem to hold this view. On the other side, the Preterist and partial preterist view has the dating pre 70 AD and argue Nero as he whom exiled John.
What, if any thoughts might be had here with respect to this? Where might I find a trustworthy resource for this?

Ken Gentry has done the bulk of the spade work for the early dating. His book Before Jerusalem Fell can be read online or in pdf. Here is one of the links to it. Before Jerusalem Fell |

Irenaeus is the ancient source often quoted for the late date. There is some wiggle room even in Irenaeus' testimony. The rest of the ancients, Gentry says, were just quoting Irenaeus.

Thanks Bob. That was the information I had been coming across as well, that scholars were basically quoting Iraneus.
I friend had shown me some things I had not seen on another board. Covenant Theology: Dating the Book of Revelation
I find this to be a persuasive argument.

Kistemaker makes some very persuasive arguments for internal evidence of a late date in "When Shall These Things Be". I don't have time to summarize right now.
