Josiah's reforms

I have alwasy been curious as to how effective Josiah's reforms were and what Jeremiah thought of them. Reading 2 Kgs and 2 Chron, the reforms appear quite effective.

However reading the book of Jeremiah a different picture seems to emerge. I know that not all chapters in Jeremiah relate to Josiah's reign, but in the ones that do, any note of reform seems to be missing. I do realise Josiah was 8 year old when he became king and the book of the law was not found until the 18th year of his reign. After instigating the reforms, Josiah then lived a further 13 years.

Now I know God obviously did not inspire Jeremiah to write about Josiah's reforms but I have often wondered as to how genuine the reforms were, how deep did they go or was it nothing more than basically giving the faith a coat of paint?

I would be most interested your views on this.
