In my devotions today, I came across this statement in 2 Chronicles 29:30: And Hezekiah the king and the officials commanded the Levites to sing praises to the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed down and worshiped.

Just from this one verse, we know that 86 of the Psalms are specifically authorized for singing (of course, we assume that all 150 of them are): the 74 psalms attributed to David (Psalm 2 is attributed to him in Acts 2:25) and the 12 psalms attributed to Asaph (Psalms 50 and 73-83).

I'm not arguing for EP here; I just think it's interesting that, in this one verse, more than half of the Book of Psalms is designated for singing.

I'm sure I've read that verse many times before in my trips through the Bible, but this the first time it just sort of jumped out at me. Not a bad reason to stay constantly in the Scriptures.
