Talking With God

Exodus 34:29 "When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God."

Moses' face shone because he had been talking with God. His face reflected the glory of God, and although this reflection of glory was only temporary, it pointed to a time when we would be changed little by little through the tools of grace, because of our High Priest who goes before us.

One cannot think that nothing happens when we come into the presence of the Almighty God. Whenever we pray and read His Word, we communicate with God as Moses communicated with God. It is different in manner in that we don't audibly hear God's voice, but we can "hear" what He has to say to us through His Word. Every time we enter into His presence by praying and reading, we are changed. It is not in vain that we use the tools of grace. May we always delight in Him and anticipate our communion with Him, knowing that it slowly but surely changes us into His image.

An excellent example that shows how very precious the Bible is...it is one of, if not the most, precious physical entities on the entire planet Earth. It is a "physical thing" that represents something that goes far beyond the physical realm however...the Bible is a physical object that bridges that vast gap between us and God. A truly remarkable and unique thing...It represents a unique category of being and existence really. And what do we do with that so precious and unique gift from God? We sloppily do not read it, ignore it, or sometimes do bad and lazy translations of it...we worry about trying to make it "politically correct" by making it "gender neutral"...we even militantly claim it is full of errors. We treat the Scripture like it is made of dung instead of it being the precious Word of God Himself. (I am speaking of the liberal camps within the Church by the way. Those outside of the Church totally, well it is even worse.)
