| Psalm 32:1 -- Richard Alleine "Blessed is he whose sin is forgiven, whose sin is covered."
Get your sins hid! There is a covering for sin which proves a curse; Prov. 28:13: "he that covers his sin shall not prosper." There is also a "covering" of sin by not confessing it, (or, what is worse, by denying it); Gehazi covered his sin by a lie. And there is a covering of sin by endeavoring to justify ourselves in our sin. All these are evil coverings, and he that thus covers his sin "shall not prosper." But there is a blessed covering of sin, for forgiveness of sin is the hiding of it out of sight, and that's the blessedness.
(as quoted in Spurgeon's Treasury of David, volume I, page 87).
