| | | New Daily Devotional-The Book of Psalms
Time to say Welcome Back to the Daily Devotional Forum. I never got word back from Hendrickson concerning the use of "Day by Day with the English Puritans", though Randall Pederson was gracious in saying I could use it. He said, however, it would be up to Hendrickson. Anyway...
Starting this evening we will begin a Daily Devotional thought on the Book of Psalms with commentary by John Brown of Haddington. God's Praises are to be sung by His Saints and when all else will fail, His Word will remain standing. May we glean much of the Lord's portion He has for us in His Word by this daily reminder of His greatness. NOTE: This is not to get a thread started on Exclusive Psalmody, etc. This is not to push an EP agenda, etc. Whether one holds to exclusively to Psalm-singing in the Worship of God or not, doesn't negate the fact that ALL Christians should sing the Psalms, at least inclusively, commanded by Scripture. Not merely because God commands it, but because of the great benefit His people reap from it.
Glory to God in the Highest
Welcome Back, Daily Devotionals!

God, as a righteous Judge, does it, which ought to silence us under all our sorrows; as many as they are, we have deserved them all, and more: nay, God, as a tender Father, does it for our necessary correction, that we may be humbled for sin, and weaned from the world by all our sorrows; and the good we get by them, with the comfort we have under them, will abundantly balance our sorrows, how greatly soever they are multiplied. - Matthew Henry |

Thanks Josh.
John Brown has some really edifying comments. I've been enjoying his insights as I've been going through the OT in his self-interpreting Bible for the last month.

Thanks again Josh... Following along on the devotional forums Puritanboard is a nice devotional supplement for one's spiritual walk. They've been helpful and have been a source of ready wisdom.
Praise be to God for those precious Psalms!

Here's probably a dumb question: how does one access this daily devotional daily? I don't see links under Today's Post, for instance.
Also, would anyone know of a good daily devotional that could be emailed daily?

Tim,
The access to the aforementioned "Daily Devotional," will be found in the older pages of the Daily Devotional Forum, but that particular set has been discontinued. As for a good daily devotional email, you could probably find several by doing a Google search. I'm sure that someone somewhere probably sends out Spurgeon devotionals daily,e tc.
