Sane reads on Masons and Templars?

I have worked with people who were rightly labeled conspiracy nuts. That freaked me out for a few years. On the other hand, I can't rule out "conspiracy" altogether. There are just too many puzzle pieces that fit.

There are right and wrong views of conspiracy: the view that acknolwedges conspiracy but sees God's people winning in the end (Psalm 2). And the view that acknowledges conspiracy but sees Satan winning ("it's all getting worse and nothing we can do about it").

So, what are some good, balanced reads on Masons and Templars? Particularly the Templars, given my interest in Medieval history. And books that do acknowledge some form of conspiracy.

I enjoy a good conspiracy. I spend to much time reading conspiracy forums. I can't really recommend any books on the templars, but if you want to read about the more bizarre side of freemasonry pick up a copy of " Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry" by Albert Pike. Pike was a mason who lived towards the end of the 19th century. He goes into great detail about the symbolism of each degree. I really think their only real conspiracy is to deceive people about the true nature of Christianity and salvation. It is apparent from Pike's writing that the "craft" is anti-God and meant to create a mood of equality among all religions. If you can't find a copy and are truly interested in reading it, let me know and I will mail you my copy.

This was the first P&R book that I bought, back when I was a Calvary Chapelite. Oddly, they had in their bookstore that had been purged of anything even smelling 'Reformed.' It doesn't go into conspiracy, but it is very well documented.

Scarlet and the Beast, by John Daniels for a solid and Biblical book on Masons! I know the title sounds outrageous, but the author is very solid, sober and balanced.
