I've a question, however. You wrote: "...the need to shun pagan philosophy, both ancient and modern (the medievals were no more compromised in this regard than contemporary evangelicals in this regard)..."
Did you mean "the medievals were no less compromised in this regard..."? The way it reads it sounds as if contemporary evangelicals aren't noticeably compromised, and neither were the medievals.
