Any recommendations for OT/NT study guides and books?

Encountering the Old Testament: A Christian Survey (Encountering Biblical Studies) (Hardcover) by Bill T. Arnold and Bryan E. Beyer and Encountering the New Testament: A Historical and Theological Survey (Encountering Biblical Studies) (Hardcover) by Walter A. Elwell and Robert W. Yarbrough have been fairly well received. Robert H. Gundry's survey (which I used in its 1st edition back in '71) is now in its 4th edition. Bob has gotten more and more controversial over the years, but his text was quite helpful to me.

Recently picked up What's in the Bible: The Story of God through Time and Eternity by R.C. Sproul & Robert Wolgemuth (W Publishing Group, 2000) for our church library. Looks like a fairly thorough survey.
