Newbie to Puritian writings

I know I been here for a while and this topic probably came up before. I was wondering what Puritian you all would recommend to start out with and if there works are online so I put them on my palm. I see so many but I don't know where to start

Doug, I would recommend starting with a shorter, perhaps experimental work. Something like Sibbes' The Bruised Reed, or Guthrie's The Christian's Great Interest; perhaps Owen's Mortification of Sin.

Pretty much any of the Puritan Paperbacks. Though I ditto the selection of the heavenly Dr. Sibbes.

That being said I just bookmarked The Bruised Reed, myself the other day. Not sure if you have it yet but I'll try to make it easy for you.

The first Puritan I read was Thomas Watson. (Well, aside from Pilgrim's Progress).

But the works stated above are good as well.

This site seems to have a nice collection to choose from: PuritanWorks| Puritan Library, Free E-Books, Online Resources & Links

You will find Joel Beeke's "Meet the Puritans" an invaluable source you will come back to again and again for its short biographical summary of who you are reading and a list of in-print works with a synopsis of each one. It helps you figure out who to read on what. Meet the Puritans - Reformation Heritage Books

Beeke recommends starting with Thomas Watson's "Heaven Taken by Storm". Its brevity and Watson's picturesque style make it a great introduction. Right now our congregation is going through it together in the Sabbath school hour. Even children are able to engage with it.

Jeremiah Burrough's The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment is also a great one to start with.
