What is the context? It could be "non" (not) I suppose.

May be Fred. It is a Rutherford quote; my suspicion is "new" N. for Novum maybe? Here is the context: We could easily grant that it was in mans power to destroy the church of God, and that the King of the bottomless pit, and his Lady and Queen, Babylon the great whore, and their sons, Papists, and Prelates, might cut off the name of the Lords Israel, if upon the supposal of their dream of N. media scientia, the new eyes which Jesuits (with all humble submission and glory to the glorious God be it spoken) have given to the Almighty contingency, did rule all. |

It's north media scientia as opposed to south media scientia.
Sorry, couldn't resist. I agree with Fred, it's probably 'not', it could be 'note' but it could also be 'nostra' for 'our middle knowledge. The context would be a big help here.

I'd say 'new' (novum) considering it's relation to 'the new eyes'.
