I read that this would be a three volume work, does anyone knows about volume 3 ? |
Dr. Horton's project is intended to use the covenant motif of Scripture as expressed by classic covenant theology to illumine various topics in systematic theology, all the while interacting with everyone from Jews, to Catholics, to Mainliners, to Postmodern critics. What he intended as a three-volume series is now going to be four (at the behest of the publisher).
Vol 1 - Covenant and Eschatology is the prolegomena to his project.
Vol 2 - Lord and Servant deals with Theology Proper, Anthropology, and Christology.
Vol 3 - Covenant and Salvation deals with Soteriology. According to Kim Riddlebarger it is the best critique of the New Perspective on Paul he has read. It is due out soon.
Vol 4 - People and Place deals with Ecclesiology and Eschatology.
Vol 2 was my favorite of the first two, by far. Dr. Horton's treatment of divine jealousy and impassibility were profound, and his exposition of the the incarnation was enlivening.
