Are there any good books, which deals with th error of using images of Jesus in movies or art ?

I would suggest: Why Christ Can't Be Pictured: God is not like art by J Virgil Dunbar. It is about 280 pages and pretty thorough.

Justin Griffin has a recent introductory book on this issue, The Truth About Images of Jesus and the Second Commandment, which is also available to read online here. There are helpful articles by John Murray and Brian Schwertley and Andy Webb.

Generally speaking, the best treatments on this subject that I have found have come from expositions of the ten commandments or the Westminster Confession / Catechisms / Heidelberg Catechism, such as those by Thomas Watson, Thomas Vincent, James Fisher, Thomas Ridgley, J.G. Vos, James Durham, Zacharias Ursinus, William Plumer, et al.

I agree with Andrew. These are the clearest, most forceful places to go.

Reformed Fellowship will be publishing my book, In Living Color: Pastoral Counsel on Images of Jesus, in 2008. Details are and will continue to be posted here. In this book I deal with PCA pastor, Jeffrey Myers' view that images may be used for art and education.

Pastor Hyde has written an excellent piece on a very misunderstood subject. Through effective combination of biblical, theological, and confessional discussions, he has presented the Reformed view of the second commandment in a winsome and attractive way. He helpfully emphasizes not the negative prohibition of making images of God but the positive facts that God has revealed himself now so generously in Word and Sacrament and will one day, at Christ’s return, reveal himself visibly in the most perfect and authentic way.
