Seth, I have to say that if I had $1500 I would purchase a wad of Puritan reprints instead!

I try to buy books on e-bay all the time but I think you guys are out-bidding me. Really I have found some great deals. I purchased an old biography of John Paton the other day for three dollars.:bs2:

I own the greatsite 1560 Geneva and its worth every penny! Also its large font makes it "easier" to read. The middle english will take some pratice to get used. I tried reading some original leafs and it is just too difficult with the small print and often dirty pages. I feel the bug to own history like everyone else but as Greco said your way better off owning a shelf full of banner reprints for the same money.
happy book hunting!

That is interesting that you attend Hillcrest church and are a student at Westminster and have an interest in Geneva bibles. How did you choose Hillcrest Church?
I am from the area and have friends that used to attend there.

Yeah, I would love to have an [i:9157ac7255]original[/i:9157ac7255] Geneva Bible, regardless of whether it was first edition or not. Later in my life when I have a full-time job, or if I'm ever financially independent, I'll probably look into buying one.
In Christ,
Chris

Hey Scott
Nice to meet you. Fair questions and something I often think about now that I am more outspoken and reformed in my theology. I started going to hillcrest long before I knew what reformed theology was. It was at hillcrest that I went to a bible study that discussed all these topics ie.. calvin vs Arm etc.. that lead me to where I am today. Hind sight 20/20 I am surprised that Hillcrest has/had so many Calvinist and some partial or fully reformed folks. Its fun to walk down the hall and see someone holding a banner of truth copy of Edwards or Owen and strike up a conversation. Some of my friends have left as they develop their theology because of the church's "tolerance" factor to denomination backgrounds. Hillcrest is an unusual melting pot of a church (baptist/AoG/Methd/Orthodox/RCC) and not without its problems, but as a testimony I know many people who are strong leaders, full time missionaries etc. who came out of Hillcrest. However God chooses to use various bodies (even if they can at times seem luke warm in some areas) His purpose prevails. Amen!
As for me I am on a first name basis with all the pastors, and they are aware I am attending WTS and dont have any problem with it and infact are excited and proud. I currently serve as a youth "coach" which is more or less a teacher/discipleship role. God has enabled me to pour into the lives of people and I want to be a servent to those in need. My justification for staying was that Jesus came for the sick not the healthy... am i crazy to think I can reform a church.. one person at a time perhaps... in the future however I am sure I will change to a PCA or reformed in my area.
