Help! Survey of the OT and NT for beginners

I am looking for a survey of both the Old and New Testament for beginners. I am going to be teaching a Sunday school class at a Korean Baptist church that has rarely been able to find a Sunday school teacher because of the language barrier, so to get a feel where everyone was at, I asked a few simple questions about the Bible and got a lot of blank stares.

Since it is a very small church, I have students from the age of 7 to adult, so I would like to know if anyone can recommend a guide for teaching an overview of both the Old and New Testaments at a very basic level. I found one called "The Illustrated Survey of the Bible" and from the excerpts I saw looks pretty close to what I am looking for. I would also like to know of any good posters that I could tape to the walls to help them to memorize some of this material (like the books of the Bible, characters of the Bible...).

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
David Morrow

Looks great, mabey like a condensed version of from Dust to Glory that Sproul has put together by himself.

After I posted the question I thought about Sprouls "from Dust to Glory" so it might be a toss up between your recommendation and a full blown study like from Dust to Glory.

Thanks,

I'd highly recommend "From Dust to Glory" for the type of situation you're describing. Its VERY easy and paints a very broad picture. I'm assuming that you're referring to the video series.
There's also a book called "What's In the Bible" by Sproul and someone else that is basically a written version of "Dust to Glory".

Dillard/Longman is quite good.
Although Gleason Archer is a dispensationalist, and the binding isn't great either, his arguments agains the whore of biblical studies, the Documentary Hypothesis, is 10 times worth the price of the book. He has several great appendices on the contradictions in the Quran and an examination of Neo-Orthodox thought in biblical studies.

Draught Horse and govols,

Would you say that your recommendations are good for beginners? As I said I am dealing with a class that is pretty much clueless and I feel that I need to have the basics of the Bible emphasized over and over again in an easy to understand format.

I am leaning toward Sprouls video series "From Dust to Glory". It should take about a year to go through. There are 57 - 23 minute videos, and I can also order the study guides. I could also suppliment some of the charts and stuff from "The Illustrated Survey of the Bible".

I am planning on going to a local Christian book store and if I can find any of your recommendations I will browse through them and see if that is what I am looking for.

Thank you,
