| | | Banner Books Trivia In an article at the website of the Banner of Truth Trust, I read that their two best-selling books are: Systematic Theology (1941) by Louis Berkhof The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions (1975) by Arthur Bennett
I just found that interesting.

Talking to oneself is, I believe, considered a sign of lunacy. Thinking to oneself is most certainly a sign of it. - G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936), in January, 1906

| | | I new about Valley of Vision but not Berkhof. As some Banner trivia, its first book published was A Body of Divinity by Thomas Watson.

| | | I have heard that Valley of Vision is #1. I wonder if some of that was people replacing their worn out paperback copies. Now it is available in leather.

Banner of Truth now publishes them as three seperate works.

| | | Quick story: I grew up near Carlisle PA and my parents live in Carlisle. When visiting my family last year, we went to Banner to buy some books and the operations manager was very kind and gave my family a tour of the facilities. While in the warehouse surrounded by boxes and boxes of reformed books, he opened up a fresh box of leather bound Valley of Vision books and gave me one. Of course I was very appreciative of the book, but more so of the staff taking the time to give our family a tour of such a respected operation and cherished service for the church.

| | | Walter Chantry, author of 'Today's Gospel, Authentic or Synthetic' and head of Banner in Carlisle. This book is a favorite of mine!
I too was gifted with a leather bound edition of Valley of Vision. A special gift! |

I just found that interesting. | I thought I read somewhere that The Puritan work, The Art of Prophesying was the best seller due to many charismatics mistakingly thinking it dealt with the supernatural sign gift of prophecy. But maybe that was Cumberland Valley Book Service. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
