As some of you may have noticed, I've been away from the board for close to a month. Over the last 8 mos I went through a divorce and during this time I became a bit bogged down, seemingly losing many organizational skills. There were many times where I asked for prayer and revealed not reasons: well, there ya have it. ANYWAY...my whole point in this post is to share with you some good "habits" I've been forming over the last several weeks that have been extremely beneficial to me for having more energy, losing weight, and just feeling better physically over all.
I find it quite convicting that many preachers, teachers, and laymen alike, will preach against the sinfulness of drunkenness (as they should), yet aren't so vocal concerning other sins against our bodies...for example gluttony. I'm not saying that everyone should be ripped like Ah-nold used to be, or slim like many of the Hollyweird Women elite. our bodies are different, etc. etc. However, it is imperative for us to take care of our bodies and avoid eating (not that eating which is in response to hunger or a desire to taste something new) merely in response to stressor to pacify time, etc. Why, when our stomachs can be filled with a fist portion, to we gorge ourselves with 2-3 helpings of everything, or supersized fries and soda with our 1/2 lb beef burger? I'm not condemning what I eat, rather, how much of it I eat.
Anyway, I've lost 12 lbs and I'm still losing. At the same time, I'm gaining muscle, which may be why my weight loss is not as rapid.I wanted to share what I've been doing for 2 reasons:
1) To give some of you, possibly, a tangible plan to begin with and hold on to consistently.
2) To be corrected on things I may be doing wrong, thus, impeding more weight loss, etc.
For 3 weeks I walked about 70 minutes in the evening. I've now worked myself up to running 75% of the distance and walking the rest. This I do everyday.
Mon-Wed-Fri I work out with weights, focusing on upper body
I've been drinking 80-120 ounces of water a day, and I've also been taking in siginificantly less food.
Anyway, feel free to correct me and I hope this is helpful in anyway.

Thanks for that. I was just sitting here in the library wondering how many donates I could buy on the way home and trying to argue with myself about me not really needing them.

Run 20 minutes on an empty stomach, three times a week. Its tough, I admit, but it also works better than those fad diets which say eat three chocolate bars and lose thirty pounds.

Jacob, that may be great for a skinny fella as yourself, but it'll take a lot more for people trying to lose weight. I do agree with you about the fad diets, though.
