Survived 30 Years In the Jungle

Interesting article about 2 Japanese World War II soldiers who refused to surrender and spent about 30 years surviving in the jungle after the war.

Interesting article. When I was in the Air Force I attended the Combat Survival School at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. Part of the school was a simulated POW camp. The other part of the school was survival and evasion. We learned where to find and how to eat locusts and ants. We were given a white rabbit to carry with us for two days and then had to kill it. We also learned to make different types of snares and find food in unlikely spots. The training was valuable, but I wouldn't want to rely on it for 30 years.

Thats pretty cool. When I was in the Phillipines, they had a jungle survival training school located just outside our quanset camp.

There was another "holdout", Fumio Nakahira, who did not surrender until April, 1980.
